Situation

Internews is a nonprofit organisation supporting independent media in over 100 countries, ranging from radio stations in refugee camps to local news outlets, filmmakers, and technologists.

In addition to supporting media operations, Internews trains journalists and digital rights activists, addresses disinformation, and provides business expertise to help media outlets remain financially sustainable. For more than 40 years, Internews has helped its partners reach millions of people with reliable information that saves lives, improves livelihoods, and holds institutions accountable.

Internews approached Baltic Amadeus after noticing cyber security publications authored by our experts. Following an analysis of Internews’ needs, we proposed a combination of information security training and security assessment services to strengthen the cyber resilience of its media partners.

Solution

Baltic Amadeus delivered a comprehensive set of cyber security services, including security assessments, information security training, and tailored mentorship programmes designed to meet the specific needs of Internews' media partners.

The security assessment identified key areas for improving information security across participating media outlets. It covered five main areas: IT and security environment assessment, risk and threat identification, ISO 27001 and CIS benchmark evaluation, internal network infrastructure vulnerability assessment, and external information systems vulnerability assessment, including web applications.

In addition, our team conducted targeted security training for selected media outlets, followed by an extended mentorship programme for specific Internews partners. Throughout the mentorship, our experts shared real-world cyber attack examples, provided practical guidance, and offered ongoing support to reinforce learning outcomes.

Added value

The security assessment provided participating media outlets with a clear understanding of their current cyber security posture, along with actionable recommendations for improvement.

Information security training and mentorship equipped employees with practical knowledge of current cyber threats and effective prevention practices, increasing overall awareness of risks and safe information handling.

All security services were delivered by certified cyber security experts holding credentials such as CISSP, CDPSE, CISA, OSCP, and others, ensuring a high level of expertise and reliability.

Our cooperation with Baltic Amadeus has proven to be not only enjoyable but also highly advantageous for our project. Their team attentively listened to our requirements and accommodated all of our requests. Moreover, as experts in their field, they provided valuable suggestions for improvements and optimal solutions. Most notably, they completed all the work on schedule for a short-term project. It was indeed a pleasure to work with their team, as they were not only easy to collaborate with but also consistently responsive to our needs.
